No cycling for me today - had another good ride yesterday, clocked up another 120 miles, the wind was not very helpful to say the least but I guess i need to be happy cycling in whatever weather is thrown at me. Legs held up very well, they still feel really good today, knee was a little twingey last night which is why I decided not to ride today. Still I managed to cover 400 miles in a 6 day period - that included one day of no riding and one day were I only did about 12 miles so I finish the week very happy indeed. Off for a few day walking in the hills before the joy that is work on Tuesday. Still only a very short half term - then the week that I've been working towards.

  2. It was probably a good move I think, I am not sure that I would have done the same, I think I’d have given in to some odd internal pressure hung in and then really regretted it. Hope you had a good ride back, and a generally pleasant day out. Did you get you Fat Mc?
We got to Chester quite easily; there is a cracking down hill stretch, about 1 mile of 4 or 5% with the wind behind, 45 mph bloody brill. Got accosted by a nutter in Chester who tried to give us her life story, and triathlon history - including showing us photos of her bike - had a brief moment of 'I DO NOT BELIEVE IT' there were people camcording the TV footage of the wedding!
The ride home was not quite as flowing the 1 mile of wind behind decent having turned into a 1 mile long accent complete with headwind. That sort or killed Pete – not sure if it was his legs or his head that went but he was never quite the same after that. Still he got back 50 miles covered, 10 more than his previous best, and at an average cycling speed of about 12 or 13 mph.
The last 30 miles home from Knutsford was hard work, wind was very much against and I had to work hard to keep my speed up as I needed to be home showered and beautiful and ready for an evening out.
I was pleased with the day, I got 120 miles with an average cycling speed of 16mph – considering the wind and the fact that I was coasting for the two hours back from Chester to Knutsford I think that’s OK, especially on the back of Wednesdays 130.
If you want to e mail me a mobile number I can let you know when and were I’m planning on going. ride@intbs.co.uk
