Today has been a good day, A quick walk to and from work - 12 miles in total. Then found the enthusiasm to sit on the trainer for about 25 mins - it's SO boring and SO hot. Couldn't stick at it any longer. It was the same last year when I was using it - I did get better quite quickly - I think the best I did was about 90 mins in one stretch.
The really good news is that I have now hit £1000 of sponsorship / donations. THANK YOU FOLKS. I know that its quite possible that nobody will ever read that but I said it anyway. Well time for a shower and some food.

  1. That's quite a landmark you've reached! Well done on raising so much! I'm walking to and from work now, too. Bike is broke :-( Was thinking of investing in something semi-decent and cycling a bit more seriously as a form of cross training. What did you start out with?

  2. Evening. I got my first bike from Decathlon - it was very nearly the cheapest road bike I could find, it was about £250. I did not know whether I would bother riding it or not so did not want to risk too much cash. Once I had been riding for about 8 months I figured i had the sticking power so saved my cash and got a reasonable one. You can pay really silly money, but as I was not in a hurry I waited for the sales and I got myself a bargin. I don't really think the 'make' means a lot unless you are paying silly money - you just need something whith decent gears and brakes. I managed to grab myself a Shimano Ultegra group set which was great, but 105 is good, just a little bit heavier but I doubt many people, including myself would notice the difference. i would suggest looking on websites that sell old stock, stuff is still good just not this years colour - you can also get some good bargins on ebay.
Rather than chatting in this page why don't you use the form thing at the side and send us your e mail address. Leave the amount blank.
